Questions
Are your sarees hand-painted or printed? +
Every Maithilii piece is hand-painted by trained artisans. No digital printing, no block printing — only genuine hand-drawn Madhubani or Kalamkari work using natural pigments and traditional techniques. Because each is made by hand, no two pieces are exactly identical.
What is the care routine for a hand-painted saree? +
Dry clean is recommended for the best results. If hand-washing, use cold water with mild detergent and do not scrub the painted areas. Avoid machine washing. Dry in shade, folded — not hung. Iron on reverse side at low heat, avoiding the painted areas directly.
Do you accept custom commissions? +
Yes! We work with artisans on custom commissions — custom colours, motifs, sizes, and even personalised narrative paintings (like a Kohabar with your names). Custom pieces typically take 3–6 weeks. Please contact us via WhatsApp or email to discuss.
Can I exchange a piece? +
Each Maithilii piece is hand-painted to order — because your piece is made for you, we do not accept returns. For exchanges due to sizing or fabric concerns, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will do our best to find a thoughtful resolution. Custom-commissioned pieces cannot be exchanged.
Do you ship internationally? +
Currently we ship within India only. International shipping is coming soon — if you're outside India and interested, please contact us directly and we'll see what we can arrange.
How long does delivery take? +
Each piece is handcrafted with care — please allow 10 business days for dispatch after your order is placed. Once dispatched, standard delivery takes 4–6 business days across India (metro cities typically 3–4 days). You will receive a tracking number by SMS and email upon dispatch.
