Exchange Policy

Every Maithilii piece is hand-painted — no two are identical. We stand behind every creation.

Our Promise

At Maithilii, every saree and dupatta is individually hand-painted by a master artisan. Because each piece is one of a kind, we do not offer refunds — but we are committed to ensuring you love what you receive.

If something is not right, we will exchange it.

We offer exchanges only — no cash refunds. All shipping costs for the exchange (sending the item back to us and receiving the replacement) are to be borne by the customer.

When You Can Request an Exchange

The item you received is different from what was shown on the product page
The item arrived with a manufacturing defect or damage caused during transit
You received the wrong item

Exchange requests must be raised within 7 days of delivery. Requests raised after this window cannot be accepted.

Made-to-Order Items

All made-to-order and custom commission pieces are strictly non-exchangeable and non-refundable — no exceptions. Because these are created specifically for you, we cannot accept returns or exchanges of any kind.

If you are unsure whether your order is made-to-order, please confirm with us before placing it.

Exchanges apply to ready-made (in-stock) items only. Made-to-order and custom pieces carry no exchange or return option whatsoever.

What Is Not Eligible

All made-to-order and custom commission pieces — no exceptions
Items that have been worn, washed, or altered in any way
Items where the original tags have been removed
Variation in colour tone due to screen calibration differences — hand-painted pieces will always carry slight natural variation
Items purchased during a sale or with a promotional discount

How to Initiate an Exchange

Email us at hello@maithilii.com with your order number and reason for exchange
Attach clear photographs of the item showing the issue
We will respond within 2 business days to confirm eligibility
Once approved, ship the item back to the address we provide — securely packed, with the original tags intact
We will dispatch your replacement within 5–7 business days of receiving the returned item

Shipping costs are the customer's responsibility — both return shipping (to us) and forward shipping (to you). We recommend using a trackable courier service, as we cannot be responsible for items lost in transit.

International Orders

For international customers, the same exchange policy applies. Please note that international return shipping can be significant — we encourage you to reach out to us before shipping anything back, so we can explore the best solution together.

Any customs duties or import charges incurred on the replacement shipment are the responsibility of the customer.
